Gerald Dean Scott

Malad, Idaho- Gerald Dean Scott, 80, while surrounded by family passed away on Tuesday December 17, 2013, following a 4-year fight with cancer. Gerald was born on May 11, 1933 in Malad, Idaho, a son of Bessie Palmer and Nathan Scott. He married Donna Roberts of Lava Hot Springs in Elko Nevada on February 7, 1955.

Gerald served in the navy and then worked as an electrician with the Union Pacific Railroad out of Pocatello. Donna and Gerald eventually made their home in Glenrock Wyoming where they raised their children. Gerald served as a lead electrician for Jim Bridger Power Plant. In 1991 Donna and Gerald relocated to Malad with their children and grand children that they helped raise.

He is survived by his wife Donna Scott and two children, Edward Scott and Tammy Luthi. One brother Deray Scott. Six grandchildren: Dana (Andy) Sanford, Christina (Seth) Briggs, Bryan Scott, Leslie (Rony) Rojas, Nick Luthi, Hannah Dawn. Fourteen Great Grand Children: Brooklyn, Baily, BreeAnn, BrytniJo, Bryar Sanford, Peyton, Chase, Cale Briggs, Natalie, Parker, Isabella, Colton Scott, Mia and Nathan Rojas.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his three brothers Darrell, Bobby, and Earl. His mother and father-in-law Edward and Rose Roberts.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 12 noon in the Malad 5th Ward LDS Chapel. Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W 300 N and again on saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
