Georgia Belle Wheeler Byington

DOWNEY – Georgia Belle Wheeler Byington, 79, of Downey and wife of Delmer “Bing” Byington, passed away peacefully at her home on May 20, 2002.

She was born July 4, 1922 in Osceola, Missouri, a daughter of Edwin and Martha Ellen “Nellie” Bernard Wheeler. She attended school in Wendell, ID and NYA Vocational School in Weiser.

There she met her eternal sweetheart, Delmer “Bing” Buyington. They were married December 1, 1943 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

They had resided in Twin Falls, Boise, Burley and St. George, UT, and moved to Downey in 1994.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Georgia especially loved serving in the Primary as president and in the boys programs. She had also served as Relief Society president while in Burley. With her husband, she had filled a mission to St. George, and worked in the St. George Temple.

She is survived by her husband, Delmer of Downey; five children, Janet (Stan) Hadley of Pocatello; Dennis (Ursula) Byington of Burley; Ladell (Bonnie) Byington of Farmington, UT; Linda (Steve) Kennedy of Woodruff, UT; Gary (Kathy) Byington of West Jordan, UT; a sister, Edit Benninghoff of Salem, OR; and a brother, Bernerd Wheeler of Florida; 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James E. Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held May 24, 2002 in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel. Arrangements are by Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, Arimo.
