George Wesley Gunter

Wes Gunter died August 9, 2011, at his son-in-law and daughter’s house in Blackfoot, Idaho.
George Wesley Gunter was born on September 13, 1926, in Arimo, Idaho to James H. Gunter and Zelma C. Taylor. He was the 3rd child of 8 children.
He met his “Little Brown-haired Girl”, LaRue Daniels in Arbon, Idaho while working for Dave Lusk. She was 11 years old and he was 19. They were later married on January 27, 1951, when she was 16 and he was 24 years old.
He worked at Pocatello Electric delivering, installing and repairing appliances. He could fix anything except color TV because he was colored blind. He made lifelong friendships with many of the people who needed him to fix things. He was famous for “Gunterizing” everything. He felt he could fix anything with wire, duct tape and bicycle inner tubes.
Wes and Larue had 4 children: Donam, Marsha, Marlean and Lynette.
Wes loved children of all ages. He raised more than just his four. He had a very special relationship with his youngest 2 brothers-in-law, Tom and Alvin Daniels.
He pulled Juicy Fruit gum, Butterscotch candy and quarters from many, many ears!
He is survived by his wife, LaRue, son, Don (Nettie) McCammon, daughters, Marsha (Don Christensen), Pocatello, Marlean (Kyle) Dunn, Blackfoot and Lynette (Jerry) Rowe, Declo, Idaho, brothers-in-law Tom Sr. and Alvin Daniels.
He has 12 grandkids (Mandy Dunn, deceased), 11 great-grandkids and numerous kids called him Dad, Grandpa and Uncle Wes! He spoiled them all!
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth, Elizabeth and Alice, brother, Bill, his in-laws Tom and Ora Daniels, son-in-law Mike Dunn, and granddaughter Mandy Dunn.
