Gayle Chantrill Morris

McCammon….Gayle Chantrill Morris, 91, from McCammon passed away March 4,, 2012. She was born October 5, 1920 in Newdale, Idaho to James Chantrill and Mabel Martineau Chantrill. She grew up in Newdale, graduated from Sugar Salem High School then went on to Ricks College where she earned an associate degree in Education. She then began her teaching career in McCammon where she taught school for 31 years. It was there that she met and married Joseph S. Morris in the Logan Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, particularly in music and Family History. She and Joe served an LDS mission at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City in 1987. They enjoyed travelling together, a highlight being a visit to Great Britain where they visited Church History sights, as well as many areas where their ancestors lived. They also spent time searching parish records for information on their families. Gayle was the fifth of nine children. She is survived by one sister, Glenna Gardner from Ammon, her children Wayne (Sherrill), Lynne Jacob , Dean (Sally), Luana (Randy) Poppe as well as 26 grandchildren 70 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe, a son-in-law Jeff Jacob and a granddaughter Gretchen Morris. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 12 noon in the McCammon LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Roger Morris, officiating. Friends may visit with the Morris family on Thursday evening March 8, from 6-8 pm at the church, and again on Friday prior to the funeral from 10:30-11:45 am. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeal Home 254-3786.
