Gary T. Moon

Gary T. Moon, 46, of 5775 Eden, passed away Sunday evening, December 5, 1993, in the Bullhead, Arizona Community Hospital following an apparent heart attack.

He was born September 19, 1947, at Malad, Idaho, the son of Archie C. and Ireta Tubbs Moon, and as a young boy moved to the Pocatello area with his family. He attended elementary school, Irving Junior High School, Pocatello High School for one year, and graduated from Highland, with the graduating class of 1965.

Shortly after high school he began working for the Union Pacific Railroad. He served in the U.S. Army for two years, and was a drill sergeant at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

On Jan. 9, 1971, he married Janet Bell at Pocatello, and this marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple Jan 14, 1989.

Gary was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad for 22 years before he was medically retired in 1988. He greatly enjoyed horses and raising quarter horses. He and his brother owned a champion cutter team.

Gary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and taught in Primary and Sunday School, and had bee executive secretary. He was currently serving as physical facilities representative for the Paradise Ward. He especially enjoyed coaching his sons ad their friends in baseball, football and wrestling. He liked bowling, and was on a bowling league for many years. His greatest joy was being with his family at the family cabin in Island Park, and boating activities with his nieces ad nephews. He also enjoyed spending time with his parents and rendering services to other people. He received much joy in hearing his wife, Janet, and daughter, Laurie, sing together.

Gary was waiting for a heart transplant. He donated his eyes and as a result, two people now have the gift of sight. Gary was always encouraging other people to be organ donors.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Moon, of Chubbuck; his parents, Archie Cleve and Ireta Moon, Pocatello; three sons, Wayne and wife, Cherisse Moon, Pocatello, Bryan and Mike Moon, Chubbuck; a daughter and her husband, Laurie and Jason Holt, Pocatello; a brother, Orlin Moon and his wife, Betty, Pocatello; two sisters and their spouses, Margaret and Duane Thompson and Linda and Leonard Wickhorst, all of Pocatello. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald, his grandparents, and an infant daughter, Kristie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 1993, at the Paradise LDS Ward Chapel, located at Yellowstone Avenue and Bringhurst Road. Bishop Lyman Kay Penrod will officiate. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Manning Funeral Chapel, 510 North 12th Avenue, and on Thursday friends may call at the Paradise Ward Chapel for an hour prior to time of the services. Interment will be in the Springfield, Idaho Cemetery.
