Gary Roger Easter

McCammon…Gary Roger Easter, 62, former McCammon resident, passed away on June 16, 2011 in Layton, Utah, surrounded by his family. Gary died following a short battle with cancer. He was born July 31, 1948 at Fort Scott, Kansas, a son of Fred and Dorothy Rhoades Easter. He grew up and was educated in McCammon and was a graduate of Marsh Valley high School, class of 1966. Gary then received a A.A. Degree in Diesel Mechanics. He joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S.S. Ranger, where he worked as an air frame mechanic. During this time, he served a tour of duty to Vietnam. Following his service in the Navy, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired as a Staff Sergant after 20 years, and retired later from the Civil Service where he had worked for 35 years. Gary loved the outdoors, his 2010 Mustang G.T., Moore’s Family Restaurant, and especially his grandchildren. He was a hard worker, enjoyed people, was a simple man who led a simple good life. He is survived by his children; Shane Easter of Rochester, Michigan; Melissa (Kenneth) Cotner of Roy, Utah; Shannon (Cody) Jewkes of Eagle Mountain, Utah. 4 grandchildren; Ivy, Kenley, Ian and Sterling. 1 brother; Alan (Judy) Easter of Pocatello; 3 sisters; Kathy (Emmett) Kent of Wilder, Idaho; Marilyn (David ) Miles of Inkom. Idaho and Debbie (Barry) Egley of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Also, numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents,one son, Nathan Easter and 2 sisters; Glenda Williams and Freda Mae Easter. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 21, 2011 at 12 noon in Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview Dr. in Arimo (254-3786). Friends may visit with the Easter family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:30-11:45 am. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery in McCammon.
