(October 26, 1936 – February 3, 2017) 

Galen Bart Thomas, son of Ina Jane Sperry and David W. Thomas, brother to Brent D. Thomas, and eternal companion of Wilma (Hepworth) Thomas; finished his mortal life on February 3, 2017, after 80 years of faithful church service (a highlight being his LDS California Mission), preeminent educational pursuits (including earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from BYU in 1960), numerous lifelong projects (featuring eight children and 13 grandchildren), and heartfelt patriotic devotion (through political volunteering and speaking out for our inspired Constitution). Words (of the scriptures, music, poetry, and prophets) were a passion of his because he recognized their power to teach and to touch both his soul and others’. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one son, J. Tyler Thomas. Survived by children: G. Bart Thomas II, Susan Beech, Carol Mullen, Mark D. Thomas, N. Trevor Thomas, Heather Thomas, and M. Brett Thomas. Funeral services to be held Sat., Feb. 11, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS church (3963 S. Peachwood Dr.; West Valley City, UT).
