Fred “Curly” Goddard (1938)

Fred (Curly) Goddard passed away October 15, 2016, at his home after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born 8/15/1938 in McGill, NV to Fred & Lila Carson Goddard. He was the oldest in a family of 9. He attended and graduated from Malad High School. He married Eileen Anderson, and they had 3 girls: Terry, Lynn and Lila, and together raised Kelly Purdum, a son. They later divorced. In 1990, Fred married Linda Mecham. They were married 26 years before he passed. Curly worked on a ranch in CA for many years before moving to Idaho where he was employed with Idaho Supreme and drove truck for Dick Godfrey. The great outdoors was where Curly was most comfortable, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Lila. He is survived by his 5 brothers: Tom (Maureen), Jack (Kim), Gene (Marilyn), Dan (Laura) & Rick (Marlene), 2 sisters: Ruth & Candy, his wife Linda, 4 sons, Kelly (DeeLane), Ricci (Pat), Tony (Wendy)and Tom (Tracy); 3 daughters: Terry (Jack), Lynn & Lila (Ray) & 3 stepchildren: Doug (Jenn), Kevin(Beckey)& Susan (J.R.) He is also survived by 17 grandchildren & a stampede of great-grandchildren. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, Oct. 21 at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel located at 823 N 675 E, Basalt, ID. Funeral services will be held Sat. Oct 22nd at 11:00 am in the Horsley Funeral home, 132 W 300 N, Malad. Viewing from 10:00 am until services. Burial will follow at the Malad City Cemetery.
