Frances Elizabeth (Cowan) Williams

Frances Elizabeth (Cowan) Williams 78 passed away June 24, 2015 in Malad, Idaho. She was the daughter of Raymond and Thelma (Woodard) Cowan born on August 25, 1936 in Greenfield, Massachusetts. A special memory of hers was growing up in the house on Leyden Rd. She was educated in Greenfield and received her nursing diploma from Franklin County Public Hospital School in 1957. She met and married Verl G. Williams in 1958 when he was stationed at West Over Air Force Base. Soon after their wedding they moved to Malad, Idaho, where they spent their life together. She enjoyed her trips back to the East coast to spend time with her family and friends.
She continued her nursing career at the Oneida County Hospital retiring in 1998. She enjoyed her work and loved serving the people of Malad.
One of her favorite past times was bowling, she joined the Gutter Gussie League, where she received many awards and met new people and created lasting friendships.
Fran joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1965, and served in various callings including; Primary, Cub Scouts, and Relief Society. She has been a great example of faith and compassion.
She enjoyed being with family and friends, going on many camping and fishing trips. Her favorite part of camping was talking and singing around the bon fire.
She loved her children and supported them through their life and various activities. She also enjoyed and supported her grandchildren. As life allowed she would attend their events such as football, wrestling, basketball, swimming and dance.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, Verl G. Williams , their three children Vicky Kent (Dave) of Malad, ID, Andrea Bartle (Parry) of Syracuse, UT and Doug Williams of Malad, ID. Her beloved grandchildren, Nathan, Preston, Jenna, Rachel, Steven and Michael and 1 great granddaughter Alexa. Her brother William Cowan (Margaret) of Montague, MA, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and brother in law, Janet and Ed Boutwell, one step brother, Ted Cowan, and a grandson, Jordan Bartle.
Funeral services will beheld on Monday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the Malad LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 20 S. 100 W. Friends may visit with the family at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N, on Sunday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m. and again at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
