Funeral Wednesday For Mrs. Blaisdell

Mrs. Florence Julia Barber Blaisdell, 66, died at the family home in St. John Sunday evening (23 March 1952) following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Malad LDS Second ward chapel with Bishop Melvin Yearsley of the St. John ward presiding.

Mrs. Pauline Atkinson and Mrs. Fern Willie played the prelude and postlude and Mrs. Atkinson accompanied the musical numbers which were vocal solos by Stillman Harris, H. M. Williams and Helen Jones. Speakers were C. H. Sweeten Sr., D. Thos. W. Richards and E. N. Crowther. L. G. Corbridge offered the prayer at the home; Dr. O. H. Mabey, invocation; Arch Harris, benediction. Bishop Yearsley gave the obituary and Weldon Jensen dedicated the grave.

Born at Centerville, Utah, July 15, 1885, a daughter of John Thomas Barber and Julia Barber, she was married to John Edward Blaisdell, December 16, 1909, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. With her husband, Mrs. Blaisdell moved to Holbrook in 1910 and they homesteaded there until the fall of 1912. They then moved to St. John where they have lived since. The mother of 10 children, Mrs. Blaisdell has been an active member of the LDS Church her entire life.

Survivors include her husband, the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Thora Jensen, Nolan Blaisdell, Theron Blaisdell, Mrs. Lorraine Dives and Kenneth Blaisdell all of Malad; Mrs. Alice Edwards, Ogden; Reed Blaisdell, Chicago, Ill. And Mrs. Helen Alvarez, Idaho Falls; 28 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Grace White, Centerville, Utah; three brothers Roy Barber, Ogden; Levi Barber, Spanish Fork and Elmer Barber, Centerville, Utah.
