Fern Board Burkett

KETCHUM – Fern Board Burkett passed from her life on this earth on July 17, 2002 at St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center. She leaves behind her six children: Rox C. Burkett (Mary); Janet B. Hatch (Bill); Debbie B. David (Jim); Gale Burkett; Tim B. Burkett, Michele B. Rehermann (Bob); eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was born November 30, 1924 in Hailey, ID. She graduated from Hailey High School and attended business school in Boise.

She met and married Leo G. Burkett, a World War II airman training at Gowen Field. The Burketts lived in Downey, ID where they raised their six children. Leo was the physician of the area. Fern was a founding member of the Downey Hospital Auxiliary; she was the first president and served that organization for 25 years. She worked hand in hand with Leo and their family operating their cattle ranch near town. When Fern and Leo retired in 1979 they moved to the Sun Valley area. Leo passed away in June, 2001.

Funeral services were conducted at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Hailey, ID on June 20, 2002. Interment was in the Hailey Cemetery.
