Fay Jones Evans

Fay Jones Evans, 83, of Malad, died Sunday, August 1, 1993 in the Oneida County Hospital.

He was born August 8, 1909 in Malad, a son of William and Elizabeth Jones Evans. He grew up an was educated in Malad, and was a graduate of Malad High School. As a young man he had worked for the Blue Light Service Station and also for his grandfather in the D.W. Jones Grocery Store.

He married Erma Martin July 4, 1936, in Malad, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple August 13, 1964.

He Began employment at the U.S. Post Office in 1935 and worked there until his retirement in 1973. From 1966 – 1973 he was the Postmaster. After his retirement, he worked at the Benson Funeral Home for several years.

He was a member of the LDS Church and had served in the Sunday School Presidency and also the Young Men’s Presidency. He was a member of the Eagles and had served on the Democratic Committee.

He is survived by his wife, Erma, of Malad; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary Martin and Kathy Evans of American Fork, Utah; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Faye and Ren Jensen of Fort Collins, Colorado; eight grandchildren; one brother, David LaVar Evans, of Malad, and one sister, Pearl Jones of Idaho Falls.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 Noon in the Malad LDS Fourth Ward Chapel Bishop Wendell Smith officiating.

Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the Funeral Home from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
