Vanderwood Rites Held Friday

Funeral services were held Friday at 1 o’clock at the Second Ward chapel for Evan Vanderwood with Bishop Jess Hughes presiding.

The prelude and postlude were played by Mrs. Emma S. Ward. Prayer at the home was offered by H. E. Thomas; invocation, J. P. Sorenson; benediction, E. N. Crowther. The speakers were E. E. Richards, J. M. Isaacson, V. P. Garst; obituary and remarks, Bishop Hughes.

The musical numbers consisted of vocal duet, Mrs. Fay Hanson and Wanda Napier; vocal duet, Thomas and Jenkin Jones, duet, Mrs. June Ward and Mrs. Gwen Ward; solo, Jenkin Jones. Mrs. Melvin Atkinson and Mrs. Emma Ward were accompanists. Guy Benson dedicated the grave.

Those from out of town attending the services were; James W. Ericsson, Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Vanderwood, Mrs. Jess Walbman, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shoemaker, Blackfoot; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hall, Ogden; Mrs. Forest Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harrison, Pocatello; Mr. and Mrs. Clive Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hancock, and son, Roscoe, Downey.

Evan Vanderwood Dies Tuesday

Funeral services for Evan Vanderwood, 64, who died at the Oneida hospital Tuesday morning, will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Second Ward chapel. Mr. Vanderwood has been in the hospital in Ogden and Malad for the past three months.

He was born at Malad, Idaho, July 15, 1885, the son of A. W. and Katherine Jones Vanderwood. He was married to Annie E. Thomas, March 22, 1909

Mr. Vanderwood was employed by the CW&M, company for 29 years and was manger of their store in Malad during part of those years.

Surviving are his widow and three children, Mrs. James W. Ericsson, *ward E. Vanderwood, Malad; Mrs. *rl H. Dodson, Los Angles; and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. S. M. Powell, Malad; H. W. Vanderwood, Blackfoot; Mrs. Frank Harrison, Mrs. John Ward, Pocatello; and seven grandchildren.
