Evan G. Jones

Evan G. Jones, 94, died April 2, 1998 in an Edmonds, Washington hospital.

He was born February 15, 1904 in St. John, Idaho and was a resident of the Malad Valley for over 90 years. Because of health care reasons he moved to Edmonds, Washington in 1994.

Evan was one of nine children born to Josephine and Evan George Jones. He attended school in St. John, graduated from Malad High School and attended the University of Utah.

He married Maude Evans in 1925 in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked for many years as a meat cutter in Malad. He later bought the family ranch in St. John and continued working at meat cutting and at farming. Evan was a talented musician and for about 20 years he played his trombone with a local band at almost every party and wedding reception in the valley.

He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lynne Jones of Pocatello, Idaho; daughter and son-in-law, Denece and Warren Peterson of Edmonds, Washington; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Evan was preceded in death by his wife, Maude in 1997; all of his brothers and sisters; and a great-grand daughter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 12:00 Noon at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad. Visitation times are April 10, 6-8 p.m., and April 11 from 11:00 – Noon.
