Ethel Sasser Hawkins

(July 2, 1911 – August 28, 2009)
On August 28, 2009 our Mother, Grandmother, Great –grandmother, Great great grandmother and friend passed away at the age of 98. She passed through the veil to meet her beloved husband Eph.

Ethel was born in Garland, Utah to Luther Blaine Sasser and Helena Michaelis Sasser. At a young age her family moved and homesteaded in Holbrook, Idaho. She attended schools in Holbrook and Malad.

On July 31, 1930 she married the love of her life Ephraim G Hawkins in the Logan Temple. They made their first home in Malad and raised their four children. Mom was a house wife and worked in JC Penny. When dad was called to the Army she helped support the family by candling eggs. In 1957 Mom and Dad moved to Salt Lake where she worked at the Yardstick for many years. Mom was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder day Saints. She had many callings and devoted her life to fulfilling her mission here in earth. Mom raised her family by example not by words. She was a hard worker and a support to her family. She was a fabulous cook and talented seamstress. Making several wedding dresses, beautiful quilts and hand work.
Ethel is survived by her son Delon S. and (Pat) Hawkins Murray, Utah. Orpha (Lloyd) Waldron Pocatello, Idaho. Helen (Hyrum) Peterson Ogden Utah. Kathleen (Larry) Taylor Sandy, Utah. She has 28 grandchildren, 99 great grandchildren and 47 great great grandchildren and one sister Fern Williams, Beaver Utah.
Proceeded in death by her husband Eph, Parents, grandson Scott Taylor, Great granddaughter Shaunta Ward, great grandson Austin Youngberg, Hawkin Sweeten and daughter-in-law Linda Tavey Hawkins and son-in-law Boyd Lewis, sisters Nellie Gleed, Beth Valentine, Delphia Heer, and Brothers Robert, Blaine, Milton and Delone Sasser.
We would like to thank her many friends and the staff at Millcreek Retirement Center for the love they have shown our Mother.
A viewing will be held September 1,2009 at Murraydale ward 6300 s 300 e Murray, Utah from 6-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 2, 2009 at the Murraydale LDS Ward Chapel at11:00 with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45.
There will be graveside services in the Malad City Cemetery at 4:00.
