Emma O Vaughn

ROCKLAND – Emma O Vaughn, 86, died Saturday, May 13, in an automobile accident south of Twin Falls.

She was born April 12, 1903, at Dillon, Mont, to Thomas and Jessie Henderson Weir. She began school in Dillon and then moved with her family to Rockland. She stayed with her grandmother in order to attend Pocatello High School. After graduation, she attended Idaho Technical College.

She moved to Salt Lake City, where she met and later married Leo Edward Vaughn Oct. 2, 1922. The couple made their home in Salt Lake until 1943 when they moved to the San Francisco Bay area. They sold real estate in the city until 1962. The couple retired in Rockland. Her husband died Dec. 29, 1965.

She was a member of the Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Power County Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Paul (“Mickey”) Greer, Salt Lake City, and Mary Catherine Colville, Rockland; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. June Vaughn; one sister, Jessie Chadbourne, Layton, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery, with Bishop Ray Ralph officiating. Friends may call at Davis Mortuary Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Those wishing may send memorial contributions to the Idaho Youth Ranch or Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.
