Elwin Howard Jones

Malad…On February 22, 2012 our dearly loved Elwin Howard Jones, 85, passed away at his home in St. John with family by his side.
Elwin was born in Sterling Idaho, January 27, 1927. Elwin served a mission in California for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He also served his country in the Merchant Marines, and U.S. Army. He married Jana Lee Farrell on March 21, 1952 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Elwin and Jana Lee moved to Malad, Idaho in 1970, where Elwin eventually started his own heating business. Elwin was in the heating business for more than 55 years, and was known to most as “The Furnace Man”. Elwin and Jana Lee had five children; Susan (late Marvin) Cluff, Douglas (Kris) Jones, Steven (Connie) Jones, Benjamin (Lori) Jones, and Scott Jones. Elwin was preceded in death by Jana Lee in 1982.Elwin and Jana Lee have 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Elwin found great joy being surrounded by his family.

Elwin was survived by his five children, and his wife Mary Charlene and her 5 children. Elwin married Mary Charlene Keller in 1983. In 1997 Elwin and Char served a mission in Nigeria.
Elwin had a great love for the outdoors. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed camping and fishing and often took his children and grandchildren. Elwin was a kind and tender hearted man, who loved to serve others. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, his distinctive sense of humor, and his love of the gospel. Elwin will be greatly missed by all those who were acquainted with him.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Malad LDS Stake Center. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday Night from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the church and again from 11:30-12:30 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow in the St. John Cemetery.
