Elvin Russel Christiansen

WILLARD — Elvin Russel Christiansen, 88, of Willard, died Tuesday, Sept. 22,1992 in the Brigham City Community Hospital after suffering a stroke.

He was born April 15,1904, in Downey, Idaho; a son of Moses Josephat and Mary Hartvigsen Christiansen.

He married Maud Ione Jensen, on Nov. 17, 1926 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She died April 2, 1987.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and had served in the Brigham City and Idaho Falls Genealogical Libraries. He was an Ogden Temple worker.

He was a justice of the peace and mayor of Downey, Idaho; and was a charter member of the Downey Lions Club. He owned and operated a farm implement business in Downey for many years.

He was a former resident of Downey, Idaho and Idaho Falls, Idaho and moved to Willard in 1970 where he resided until his death.

Surviving are nine children, Donna (Don) Hart, Redmond, Washington; Theron (Marilyn) Christiansen, Island Park, Idaho; Allan (Hilda) Christiansen, Ogden; Alene (Pete) Loisate, Blackfoot, Idaho; Marilyn (Lynn) Throckmorton, West Valley City; Blaine (Judy) Christiansen, Dugway; Nayda (Lyle) Bur-bank, Preston, Idaho; Neil Christiansen, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Mary Sue (Dean) Draper, Grand Junction, Colo.; a son-in-law, Theron Gambles, Rexburg, Idaho; 43 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a brother and four sisters, John Christiansen, Downey, Idaho; Myrtle Jensen, West Valley City; Edna Nelson, Blackfoot, Idaho; Nellie Christensen, Downey, Idaho; and Eva Filler, Concord, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Flora Gambles.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Willard 2nd Ward with Bishop Randy Braegger officiating.

Friends may call at the Olsen-Myers Mortuary 205 S. 100 E. Thursday, from 6 until 8 p.m. and Friday at the church 9:45 until 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the Downey, Idaho Cemetery.
