Elmer Dee Saxton

Elmer Dee Saxton, age 83 passed away June 12,2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 18, 1931 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was the son of N. J and Fern Louise Dawson Saxton. He spent his young life with his parents in Pocatello and his grandparents in Rigby. He attended school in the Pocatello school district. At fourteen he joined the Marine Corps serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. At the end of the war he came home to Pocatello and met his sweetheart of 63 years. They met at the roller skating rink. They were married May 9th 1950 in Pocatello. Dee was called back into the service in October of 1950 during the Korean Conflict. When he returned he went to work doing construction work with his father. He later worded on Highway construction until he went to work for the P.F.E. in Pocatello. He had worked for the railroad for 25 years when he retired in 1986. Elmer was a Commander of the Marine Corps League, and helped start the Toys for Tots. He received several plaques for outstanding service from the American Legion in Pocatello. He is survived by his wife Eva of Virginia and four children Evadee (Dean) Cornell, Ruby(Clinton)Weeks, David Darrel(Brenda)Saxton, Kay Lynn (Kevin) Davis, 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren. 3 great great grandchildren. A brother Burt Saxton of Moreland, Idaho. 2 sisters Penny (Fred) Saundersand Vonda Saxton. Service will be held on Wednesday, June 18th at 1:00 p.m. at the Saxton home in Virginia, Idaho. 3527 E.
