Ellis Lavern Allen

Ellis Lavern Allen, 65, died Thursday, July 9, 1992, in the Bear River Valley Hospital, Tremonton. 

He was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Portage, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Naylor Allen. He married Thora Thompson, March 20, 1952, in the Logan LDS Temple. 

Mr. Allen was reared and educated in Portage and graduated from Bear River High School. He owned and operated a farm in Portage, and had worked for Swift Meats for 15 years and at Thiokol for 18 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. 

He was a High Priest in the Portage LDS Ward and had served as Sunday School President, Elders Quorum Secretary, and as a Home Teacher. 

Surviving are his wife of Portage, 2 daughters, Cheryl Allen, Portage; Janet A. and husband Scott Baker, Hyrum; 2 sons, Marlin K. and wife Bobbie Allen, Portage; Wayne E. Allen, East Garland; 7 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ralph Allen, Ogden; Leon Allen, Roy; 2 sisters, Faye Bingham, West Point; Edna Tippets, Washington Terrace. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister. 

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 14, at the Portage Ward Chapel with Bishop Bud Knudsen officiating. 

Burial in the Portage Cemetery.
