Elden L. Bastian

Elden L. Bastian, 85, died Monday, March 31, 1997 at the Franklin County Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 10, 1911 in Leeds, Washington, County, Utah, to Niels Soren Bastian and Ethel Sullivan.
He married Alice Mary Izatt August 13, 1936 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
He received his education in the Weston schools. After graduating from Weston High School, he received a mission call to England. He attended Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah.
Elden and Alice lived and reared their family in Weston on the farm. Elden was secretary and treasurer of the building committee when the church was built in Weston.
As a young man he was active in theater and drama. He and Alice also enjoyed square and ballroom dancing.
He is survived by sons and daughters and spouses: Stephen E. and Nadine Bastian, Preston, Idaho; Roger I. and Mary Ellen Bastian, Salt Lake City, Utah; Kathy B. and Steven H. Viehweg, Hyrum, Utah; LaRue B. and Ray Norton, Midway, Utah; Kirk and Gay Bastian, St. George, Utah; and Stewart and Melanie Bastian, Weston, Idaho; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Tingey, Weston, Idaho; two brothers, Merlin Bastian, Malad, Idaho; and DeLos Bastian, Weston, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 4, 1997 at 1 p.m. in the Weston LDS Second Ward, with Bishop Jay Hurren conducting. Friends may call at the Webb Funeral Home Thursday evening, April 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Weston Cemetery.
