Elden Dewain Higgins

McCammon – With his loving family by his side Dewain left for a better place on Wednesday June 22, 2011. Dewain was born on September 28, 1931 in Pocatello, Idaho to Elden and Gladys Robertson Higgins. He was the oldest of four children. He was raised in Lava Hot Springs and went to school there.
In 1950 he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany for most of his duty, where he trained the other enlisted men to shoot. He was honorably discharged in 1953.
He married Mary Jo Ann Neeser on February 19, 1955 and they were blessed with nine children. Dewain and Jo Ann have spent their entire married life in McCammon. Dewain worked for the State of Idaho for 27 years. Much of that time was spent plowing snow off of the roads and out of people’s driveways. He loved spending time with his family, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading. He was always willing to do anything for anyone that needed help. It didn’t matter how big or small he was always there to lend a helping hand.
Dewain is survived by his wife of 56 years Jo Ann, children Dave (Rhonda) Neeser, Pocatello, Idaho, Cheryl Ann (Trent) Allen, Roseville, California, Larry, Jerry, Suzy (Doug) Richards, Bonnie, Mary Higgins Wilson, and John (Patti) all of McCammon, 16 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, grandson, sister and his parents.
Dewain, Husband, Dad, Brother, Grandpa, Papa, a wonderful man you will be missed by all. We love you, and you are in our hearts forever.
