Edwin Cleon Dives

Edwin Cleon Dives, 82, of Samaria, passed away on Monday September 12, 2005 in the Oneida County Hospital. He was born November 4, 1922 in Cherry Creek (Malad), a son of Leo and Arvella Williams Dives. He was raised and educated in Malad and later in California.

He married Nadean Thomas in Brigham City, Utah in 1939 and she passed away February 23, 1989. He then married Marge Rowe Young April 29, 1990 in los Angeles, California.

Ed had served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After returning, he became a skilled Tool and Die maker. He worked many years in Los Angeles where he owned and operated the Precision Die and Mold Company. Ed had contracts with the U.S. Government, the McCullough chain saw company, and many other projects. He had also farmed and ranched in Samaria.

Following his retirement, he returned to Malad and had resided there as well as in Samaria the past several years. He is survived by his wife Marge, of Samaria; a son, Ronal (Patty) Dives of Los Angeles, CA.; 3 step-sons, Matthew (Kazi) Young of Hawaii; Jason (Amy) Young of Gold Beach, Oregon, and Travis Young of Malad; 3 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Nadean; a half brother, Ray Jones, and a half-sister, Meda Jones, and a step-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday September 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N., Malad. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
