Edna Thomas Walc

Edna Thomas Walc, 81, of Malad, died Sunday, August 1, at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

She was born January 10, 1912, in Malad, a daughter if Joseph Thomas and Emily Reese Thomas. She grew up and was educated in Malad.

Edna married Fred Wakley in 1930, and they lived in Downey in their early years. After his passing, she married Leopold Walc of Ogden. He also is deceased.

She had worked in Ogden as a guard at the Second Street Defense Depot during WWII. She later lived in Lava Hot Springs where she worked at a nursing home.

Edna returned to Malad in 1974, where she had since resided. She was active in the LDS church and was a member of the Oneida Chapter of the American War Mothers.

Survivors include a son and wife, Wayne and Myrl Wakley, of Malad; and a son, Leo Eugene Walc, Pocatello; daughter and her husband, Jim and Carlene Patterson of Ogden, Utah; a sister Ruth Curtis, of Ogden; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, one son, Zan Wakley, her parents, and eleven brother and sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Downey Cemetery.
