Dorothy Williams Stayner

Dorothy Williams Stayner age 91 passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 in Malad, Idaho. Dorothy was born March 2, 1925 in Malad, Idaho to Ernest Morse Williams and Ada Jenkins Williams. She was the second of three daughters. Dorothy spent her entire life in Malad.

Dorothy attended schools in Malad and graduated from Malad High School in 1943. Following her graduation, at the age of 18 she began working for R.V. Daniels in his drug store. She often spoke of how much she enjoyed working for Mr. Daniels. Upon Mr. Daniels retiring she began working for Verlin Allen who changed the name of the Drug Store to Allen Drug. She worked many years for Mr. Allen until he retired. She then worked for his nephew Richard Allen until Dorothy retired at the age of 80. Dorothy enjoyed working at the drug store and serving her customers whom she considered friends.

Dorothy married Henry Milo Stayner on December 21, 1945 in Preston, Idaho. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They enjoyed 61 years together until Milo’s passing in 2006. To this union one son Ernest Michael Stayner was born.

Dorothy was an active member of the LDS church serving in various callings. She often remarked how much she loved serving in the Primary especially teaching the Sunbeams. Dorothy strived to attend the Logan Temple as often as possible until ill health prevented her from doing so.

Dorothy was always a hard worker. She loved her home and keeping it spotless. In addition to her work at the Drug Store she helped Milo with the farm. For a few years they raised turkeys followed by potatoes, alfalfa and grain. They always had a few head of beef cattle to raise.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Milo and her sister Blanche. She is survived by her son Michael (Ann) Stayner and grandsons Collin Stayner and Case Stayner all of Pocatello, Idaho, her sister Gaylene (Hank) Brandt of Ravenswood, West Virginia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 12 noon at the Malad LDS 6th Ward located at 400 North 200 West with Bishop Richard Allen officiating. There will be a viewing from 10:30am to 11:45am prior to the funeral services also at the church building. Interment will follow at the Malad Cemetery.
