Doris Merle Rowe

Doris Merle Rowe, beloved mother (and mother-in-law), grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away Thursday, May 26, 2001, at the age of 85, at the Oneida County Hospital in Malad, Idaho, surrounded by her family.
Doris was born in Ririe, Idaho, on November 24, 1915, to William Charles Cheney and Fanny Fern Fullmer Cheney. She married Thomas William Rowe on December 3, 1937. Together they owned and operated a service station in Thornton, Idaho, for several years. Later they moved to Blackfoot, Idaho, where they finished raising eight of their 10 children. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George L.D.S. Temple.
After the death of her husband, Doris moved to Woodburn, Oregon, where she became an avid woodcarver and oil painter, winning many awards and ribbons. She also loved fishing, sewing, gardening and flowers, and spending time with her family.
Doris is survived by eight children: Loma (Arves) Lloyd, Rita (Neil) Martin, Marge (Ed) Dives, all of Malad; Thomas Jr. (Pat) Rowe of Molalla\ Oregon; Doloris (Myles) Aldous of Nampa, Idaho; Douglas (Pat) Rowe of Arlington, Washington; Shane Rowe of Salmon, Idaho; and Ronda (Steve) Reddinger of Littleton, Colorado. She has 31 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Linda, son Delbert, and her husband Tom.
Funeral services will be held at the Benson/Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, Idaho, on Thursday, May 31, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. The family will greet friends and relatives at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Sugar City Cemetery in Sugar City, Idaho.
