Donald Earl Abbott

ABBOTT, DONALD EARL, August 22, 1940 – September 1, 2004 

TREMONTON – Donald Earl Abbott, age 64, passed away September 1, 2004 in Ann Arbor Michigan following a massive stroke.  He was born August 22, 1940 to Joy and Donna Abbott in Malad, Idaho.  

He married Rita Richards on December 20, 1962 in the Logan Temple.  They were active in the LDS Church and were blessed with six children, one of which was a baby girl names Carla who died in infancy. 

 Donald lived for his family and grandchildren.  He was a very kind and loving husband and father.  He was a scholar and after marriage he continued his education and graduated with honors from Weber State University.  He was a natural mechanic and a man with many talents, attested to by his family and neighbors.  He seemed to have an inventive mind in repairing or assembling any item that was needed. 

 In his adult life he has been in civil service with the U.S. Government.  His assignments have taken him to Hill Air Force Base in Ogden and several nations over-seas including Japan, Germany, Belgium and Okinawa.  He retired in 1998. 

 Being active in the Church, he excelled as a teacher and was in great demand as a class instructor.  He had a strong testimony of the Gospel and was well versed in its principles.  While serving in Germany he held several church offices including Branch President, Counselor, Stake President Counselor and Stake President. 

 He is survived by his wife Rita, children, Jeff (Tristan) Abbott, Boise, ID; Donita (Greg) Bean, New York City; Sheri (Michael) Lehman, Michigan; Tami (Tristan) Burnett, South Carolina; Tyson (April) Abbott, Missouri; a sister Judy (Jack) Mieure, Tremonton, UT; a brother Myron (Leslie) Abbott, Littleton, CO; father and mother-in-law, Darwin and Dorothy Gunnell of St. George. 

 Funeral services will be held September 11, 2004 at the Tremonton LDS Stake Center.  Interment will be in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
