Don W. Bosworth

DOWNEY, Ida-Don W. Bosworth, 83, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the home of his daughter in St. George, Utah.
He was born Sept. 10, 1917, at Treasureton, Idaho, the son of James (Walter) Bosworth and Anna Purser Bosworth. He graduated from Preston High School in 1935.
He married Helene Browning on Feb. 16, 1939, in the Logan Temple. They recently celebrated their 61st anniversary.
He was in the grocery business in both Ucon, Idaho, and Logan, Utah, operating the “family corner grocery.” From 1952 to 1969 he owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Downey.
In 1969 he established the Bosworth Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Business until his retirement. He valued all of his customers and considered all of them close friends.
Don was an avid Marsh Valley sports enthusiast. Until his recent illness, he was seen at every event, especially walking the sidelines at a football game, voicing praise or concern.
Don was a lifelong member of the LDS Church, having served in many positions. He was a high priest in the Downey First Ward.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helene; three daughters, Suzanne (Jerry) Howell of Pocatello, Jane (Randy) Jones of St. George, Utah; Kristi (Alex) Hill of Jacksonville, Florida; three sons, Bryan (Leoda) Bosworth of Phoenix, Ariz., Claude (Nada) Bosworth, Malad; and Gordon Bosworth, Brigham City, Utah; daughter-in-law, Pam (George) Hoge, Pocatello; 34 grandchildren, two of whom are serving missions in Brazil and Spain; and 67 great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by a brother, Purser (Ardella) Bosworth, Preston; sisters-in-law, Caryol (Doug) Malone of Malad and Delma Bosworth, Idaho Falls; brother-in-law, Fred B. (Lola) Browning, Porterville, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ross Bosworth; brothers, Varr and infant, Gerald; and infant sister, Yvonne.
Don was a loving, kind man. He was very much a “people person’ and cherished his friends and family. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all his heart. He always had great hope in their future.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Downey LDS Ward chapel. Friends may call at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview, Arimo, on Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Downey Church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Cambridge Cemetery.
