Don Val Gibbs

MALAD- Don Val Gibbs, 70, of Malad, passed away early Tuesday, July 30, 1996, in Winnemucca, Nevada, of a heart attack.

He was born January 17, 1926 in Portage, Utah, a son of James Hyrum and Hazel James Orgil Gibbs. He was reared and educated in Portage, and had attended Bear River High School. During World War II he served in the Army, and was stationed in the Philippines, and later in Korea.

On January 1, 1947 he married Ada Lusk in Malad.

He had farmed in the Malad area, and for 34 years was employed a a heavy equipment operator on road construction. Don enjoyed raising and spending time with his horses. The great love of his life was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ada, of Malad; three sons, Don Clair (and wife, Donna) Gibbs, of Malad, Earl James Gibbs, of Malad, and David Clayne (and wife, Leisa) Gibbs of Springville, Utah; six grandchildren; four brothers, William L. Gibbs, of Portage, Utah, Roy O. Gibbs, of West Valley City, Utah, Leo Gibbs, of North Salt Lake City, Utah, and Lorin Ladell Gibbs, of Portage, Utah; and two sister, Mrs. Devere (Velda) Harrisk of Logan, Utah, and Lola Maughan, of Wellsville, Utah.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 1996, at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday for on hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the American Legion Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65.
