DeWayne Madsen


Preston…DeWayne Madsen, 81 of Preston, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010, of heart failure. He was born March 28, 1928, in Malad, Idaho a son of Frank and Mary Ann Dalton Madsen. DeWayne faithfully served his country in the U. S. Air Force from 1948 to 1952. He married Leah Hobson April 12, 1952, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Seattle Washington LDS Temple on January 21, 1981. DeWayne and Leah resided in the Everett Washington area for many years where DeWayne worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he had served in various capacities through the years. DeWayne loved to garden, fish, read and learn and in his early years, to hunt. His greatest enjoyment came being with his family, who all loved him. He is survived by his wife Leah, of Preston, Idaho; son; Mike (GeorgAnn) Madsen of Monroe, CA.; daughter; Linda (Will) Hess of Marysville, WA.; son; David (Becky) Madsen of Hugston, Kansas; daughter; Echo (John) Neal of Heber City, Utah; son; Brian (Lesa) Madsen. 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, who he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 7 brothers. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 11:30 am in the Whitney 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, Bishop Brandon Stephenson, officiating. Friends may visit with the Madsen family on Wednesday at the church prior to the funeral, from 9:30-11:15 am. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery at 3:00 pm with Military rites accorded by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post #65. The family wishes to thank Dr. David Beckstead, nurses, and staff at the Franklin Co. Medical Center and the many neighbors and friends, for all their loving service and kindness they have shown.
