DeVon Daniels

MALAD – DeVon Daniels, 71, of Malad passed away Sunday, May 3, 1998 in the Oneida County Nursing Home of Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS).

He was born January 19, 1927 in Ogden, Utah, a son of George B. and Hannah Vaughn Daniels. He was reared and educated in Malad, and later attended Idaho State University.

He married his high school sweetheart, Ina J. Yearsley, on April 12, 1947 in Pocatello, Idaho. They were married for 47 years until her death in 1994.

The [they] had three children, Craig, Sandra, and Kevin. In 1996, DeVon married Sharon Clark. They enjoyed traveling, and he had renewed his love for fishing. Sharon had cared for him during the months this terrible disease began crippling him.

His favorite things were sports, especially watching the Jazz playoffs, traveling, fishing an spending time a [at] the ranch he grew up on.

He loved his children and grandchildren, and was always involved with their lives, supporting them in whatever they were doing or going through. They all felt special.

We will miss him. DeVon was a true humanitarian.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Malad; one son, Kevin (Mary Lynn) Daniels of Malad; one daughter, Sandra (Bob) Foxley of Roy, Utah; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ina, one brother Gary, an one son, Craig.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 1998 at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
