DeVere Dean Bell, (1927)

DeVere Dean Bell, age 84, passed away December 30, 2011 peacefully surrounded by his family.

He was born August 21, 1927 in Malad, Idaho, the son of William Arvel and Mary Alberta Jones Bell. He was reared and educated in Malad, Idaho and Ogden, Utah, graduating from Ogden High School. He served in the US Navy during World War II and upon returning, he married Mary Beverly Fredrickson in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 29, 1964.

DeVere was a member of the South Ogden First Ward, served as Bishop of the ward and also as a counselor in the bishopric.

He is survived by seven children: Kenneth (Ingrid) Bell, Lehi; Glen (Sandra) Bell, Ogden; Lee (Ed) Hofeling, Tooele; Dee (Cherry) Bell, Missouri; Bill (Jeannie) Bell, Mapleton; Irene (Doug) Evans, West Point; Mary (Clark) Mackay, Taylorsville; 32 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, brother, Arvel Bell and sister Ileen Henderson.

A viewing will be held January 3, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at Leavitt’s Mortuary, Ogden, Utah. Graveside services will be January 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.
