Derril Robert Hobson

MALAD-Derril Robert (Bob) Hobson, age 62, died Sunday at the Oneida County Hospital of a heart attack.
He was born May 2, 1924, at Oxford, Idaho, a son of John Reynold and Rose Ella Johnson Hobson. He married Cleone Clegg December 14, 1951, at Malad.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served with the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 65. After the War he was employed at Hill Air Force Base and later by Union Pacific Railroad. He also worked at Crowther Brothers Mill and for the Ed Vaughn Ranch at Malad.
In 1957 he began business for himself, operating Bob’s Sinclair in Malad.
Survivors include his wife and mother of Malad; three sons of Malad, John Robert (Bob), Jesse (Lee), and Dale Myron; four daughters, Mrs. Harry (Debra) Johnston, Preston; Mrs. Laurel (Sharon) Thomas, Pocatello; Mrs. Charles ( Bonita) McDowell, Logan, Utah; Michele LaRee, Malad; two brothers and two sisters. Alton J., Pocatello; Phil, Milwakie, Oregon; Lorraine Thomas and Leah Madsen of Washington State. He had thirteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 23rd, in the Malad Fifth Ward Chapel with Bishop Frank Gunnell conducting. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
