Deon Stanger Bastian

Deon Stanger Bastian, born July 23, 1925, died April 22, 2001, of complications due to pneumonia. She fought a hard fight against cancer for over four years.
The daughter of Sadie Hymas and George Stanger, Deon married Dale Carlton Bastian in the Logan Temple November 24, 1943. They were the parents of three children: Barbara Mauss, Sandy Utah; David Bastian, Draper Utah; and Ann Willardsen, Tacoma, Washington. They were the grandparents of 13 and great-grandparents of 9. She loved all children, ice cream, gardening and family history and was a temple worker in the Provo and Logan temples.
Dale and Deon lived on the Wasatch Front; Seattle, Washington; Morgantown, West Virginia; Springville and Provo, Utah; and Hollister, California.
Deon accompanied her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gordon Mauss, as they served a mission with their family in Rochester, New York. She loved to travel. She was a secretary at Continental Baking in Seattle, Washington for 11 years and a secretary to the Dean of Biological and Agricultural Sciences at B.Y.U. for eight years. Dale preceded her in death in 1978.
She married Merlin Bastian in June of 1992, and lived with him in Malad for eight years. She is survived by her husband, Merlin and his family and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Deon will be Saturday, April 28, 2001, at the Brighton 8th Ward Chapel at 11:00 a.m., 2895 East Creek Road (7900 South) preceded by a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Graveside services will be at the Weston, Idaho Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. under the direction of Cannon Mortuary funeral directors.
