Delores Mae Wright Hawkes Thomas

Delores Mae Wright Hawkes Thomas passed away Sept. 15 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello. Delores was born Oct. 26, 1932, to Alfred and Dorothy Wright in Great Falls, Mt. The family moved to Seattle, Washington, when she was four years old. Delores graduated from high school in Seattle, got on a bus destined for Downey, Id. to work for her Aunt Marge and Uncle Frank in their diner. There she met the love of her life, Hewitt Hawkes. Hewitt and Delores raised four children in Downey. Christine, Hugh, Sherman, and Holli. Hewitt passed away in 1983 and had to wait a long time to be reunited with his love. They are together once more. Delores was also reunited in heaven with Chris, Hugh, and her grandson Trevor Lee Kirby. There was a party in heaven that day! Delores married Robert Thomas in 1987 and moved to McCammon, Id. where they built two homes by hand. Robert passed away in 2014. Delores loved to sew, swim, play softball and love on her grandbabies. The world is a darker place without her spirit. She will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the Downey American Legion Building.
