Deliliah Jones Ward
Delilah Jones Ward, 87fof Malad, died Monday, December 2, 1991, in the Oneida County Hospital.
She was born December 25, 1903, in Malad. She was the 13th child of William E. and Martha Lucretia Lusk Jones. On May 8, 1922, she married Jesse Lorenzo Ward in Pocatello. He died October 10, 1965. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple.
She had lived in Malad until she and her husband purchased a farm on Birch Creek in 1927. She resided there until 1968, when she moved into Malad. She was a member of the LDS Church, and had served as a visiting teacher in the Relief Society, and in various other capacities.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters, Jesse Park Ward of Malad, William “Bill” D. Ward, Downey, Mrs. John (Delilah) Commanndorous, Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Thomas (Lucretia) Thurber, Escondido, California, and Mrs. Richard (Julia) Person, Anchorage, Alaska; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two children, Edith Mae and Elaine.
Funeral services were held last Thursday at noon in the Malad LDS First Ward Chapel, with Bishop Jared Crowther officiating. Burial was in the Malad City cemetery.
