Dee Earl Wakley

Dee Earl Wakley, 87, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 in the Nell J. Redfield Long Term Care Facility after a long illness.

He was born July 6, 1930 in Malad City, Idaho, the son of John Earl Wakley and Essie Sarah Bybee. He spent his childhood in Downey, Idaho on a family farm located just below Wakley Peak helping his family raise sheep.

On September 13, 1952 he married Wanda RaeLene Thorpe and they were blessed with five children. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Korean War Veteran and retired from Defense Depot, Ogden Utah. He enjoyed playing his guitar, writing songs, singing and yodeling. He was a gifted artist and made wood come to life by carving and painting western horses and figurines. His greatest joy was his family.

Dee is survived by his children, Deb (Rick) VanBebber, Kim (Mary) Wakley, Kelly (Janis) Wakley, Mark (Sheila) Wakley, and Jill (Kurt) Davis, all of Malad; 18 grandchildren, and 50 great grandchildren; two brothers Clark (Gayle) Wakley of Tremonton, Utah, and Jack Wakley of California.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 12 noon at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. in Malad City, Idaho. The family will meet with friends Friday morning prior to services from 10:30 to 11:45. Military burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
