Debra “C” Willie Braker

Debra “C” Willie Braker, 42, of Malad, passes away Sunday June 16, 1996, at her home of cancer. She was born May 20, 1954 in Malad, a daughter of William L. and Gaylene Caldwell Willie.

She grew up and was educated in Holbrook and Malad, where she had spent the majority of her life. She married Leslie O. Braker May 25, 1973 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 25, 1995. For several years she had been employed with Ireland Bank in Malad, and recently, along with partner Sherrie Johnson, had opened the Blue Caboose gift and basket shop.

Debbie was known throughout the community and enjoyed doing all she could to help and take part in community activities. She served as president of the Malad Chamber of Commerce. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had taught in the Young Women’s program for several years. She enjoyed visiting with people, playing games, working on picture books, and more than anything, she loved to laugh.

She is survived by her husband, Les, of Malad; One daughter, Amber Braker, and Amber’s fiancée, Jared Garner of Logan, Utah. Two brothers, Leslie Willie of Staley, North Carolina, and Shane Willie of Malad; her parents, William L. and Gaylene Willie of Holbrook, Idaho; grandmother, Faye Caldwell of Malad.

Funeral services were held Wednesday June 19, 1996 in the Malad LDS Fifth/Second Ward chapel. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
