Dean Eldon Stott

Dean Eldon Stott
(October 26, 1954 – January 2, 2018)

In the very early hours of January 2, Dean Eldon Stott let go of the pain and worries of this life as his long struggle with COPD came to an end. He took with him the loving support of those of us who remain behind and was surely greeted by his parents and grandparents who had gone before. Dean was born at home in Meadow, UT on October 26, 1954. He was one of 5 children and his sisters, Marileen and Ellen, took great joy in their younger brother. It can never be said that Dean lived a quiet life although he learned to embrace solitude as a young child as he learned the skills of his mixed heritage and began trapping, hunting, fishing, and ranching at very young ages; loves he maintained his life long. Throughout his life he was also well known for rescuing and raising a variety of wildlife; from raccoons and owls to wolves and coyotes: hawks and eagles to bobcats and skunks. Dean had them all. As a teenager he was a bullrider until he was gored and nearly lost his life. As an adult, he spent years working at Thiokol where he received awards, commendations and was even able to travel to Florida to watch the space shuttle launch. He flew a helicopter, was a rancher and farmer, and drove a school bus for a time. He was an electrician, a truck driver, a heavy equipment operator, and a drummer in a country band. He was a daddy who loved watching his 3 children grow and he also raised his nephew, Clint, who became his best friend and never left his side. He loved to go out dancing and made friends everywhere he went. And, boy, that man could sing! Going out singing karaoke on weekends spanned decades of his life and were some of his favorite memories. Dean did not want a funeral service. He found them depressing and never wanted us to go through that at his end. In fact, he often said that when he went, he wanted someone to throw him a party, a celebration of his life….and that is what we are going to do. Saturday, January 13th everyone is invited to join his girlfriend Ronna and his nephew Clint at the Hubcap Lounge @ Hotel Malad to celebrate and drink a beer to Dean while enjoying a fish fry hosted by the owner, Rick Werner. Festivities begin at 2pm.
