David Morse Anderson

OGDEN – David Morse Anderson, 97 passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 13, 1994 in his home. He was born July 22, 1987 in Samaria, Idaho, the oldest of twelve brothers and sisters to Mariah Morse and David Hutton Anderson.

On May 28, 1924, he married Mildred Nellie Stokes in the Logan LDS Temple. She died February11, 1989.

He graduated from the Brigham Young College in Logan and began a lifetime career of teaching school for over 40 years. He served in the Navy, in World War I, graduated from the Albion Normal College and from Utah State Agricultural College. His early teaching years were spent in one room school houses in Southern Idaho. He also taught in Utah, retiring from Weber School District in 1962.

He was a High Priest in the 59th Ward of the LDS Church. He held various positions throughout his lifetime including 16 years as a scoutmaster.

He truly loved teaching and each student unconditionally. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He lived independently in his own home and raised a garden every year, sharing his bounty. He loved people; he loved learning and he looked for the best in everything and everyone. He was blessed with a keen intellect and the ability to find joy in the simple things of life. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Surviving are one son and four daughters, DeVerl H. Anderson (Julie), Brigham City; Faye Price, Ogden; Melba Winzeler (Bill), Tremonton; Myrna Christianson (Keith), North Ogden; Francie Forsberg (Roger), Pleasant View; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Also one brother and two sisters, Morse Anderson, Orem; Marie Lee, Provo; Hannah Harris, Whittier, California.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North 400 East. Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Bothwell City Cemetery.
