BOISE – Dave Anderson, 75, of Boise, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in Boise, Idaho. He was born June 18, 1932 in Malad, Idaho. He was the youngest of Maude Ann Evans and John William Anderson.
He attended the University of Idaho and Idaho State University, where he met the love of his life, Bobbi Jo McRoberts. They were married June 13, 1957 in Rupert, Idaho. They lived in Grand Junction, Colorado and Jerome Idaho, before settling in Pocatello, where Dave was a respected businessman, ready and willing to lend a hand in civic clubs and school functions.
After their children moved to Boise, they followed and Dave worked with Farm Bureau. He had many good friends there and even after retirement they stayed in contact with each other.
Dave could always be found supporting his kids in academic or extracurricular activities. He and Bobbi were president of the Poky Riders and the Indian Hills PTA.
Dave had a robust laugh that could fill a room and warm the hearts of all those he met. He was a steadfast friend and would help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family and could be found boating, fishing and golfing with them in summer, skiing and snowmobiling in winter, and hunting in fall. Dave enjoyed the outdoors and a good rodeo or horse race.
In his younger days, he and his brother, Bill, spent summer weekends roping at rodeos in eastern Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. In recent years, his attention turned to farming with his grandkids. He helped them build a small garden in his yard, where they grew giant sunflowers and other vegetables that they entered in the fair, bringing home many awards and ribbons.
Papa watched the garden for them, keeping squirrels and birds away from the crops, as he jokingly told them to contact Farm Bureau to buy some crop insurance. As far as he was concerned the sun rises and sets in his Morgan and Connor.
Dave is survived by his wife, Bobbi Jo; daughter, Jodi Anderson; son, Joe R. Anderson, and daughter-in-law, Mary Anderson; grandchildren, Morgan and Connor Anderson; his brother and sister-in-law, Chril Anderson.
Dave was preceded in death by his son, J.D. Anderson; parents, Maude and John William Anderson; in-laws, Jo and Andy McRoberts; brothers and sisters, John Anderson, Alice Beth McCartin, Helen Browder, Dan Anderson and Dean Anderson.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m., March 7, 2008 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. A rosary will be prayed in the resurrection room at 6:30 p.m. prior to the vigil. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass. Interment will be at Morris Hill Cemetery following the luncheon.
