Darwin A. (Ted) Bowen

Darwin A. (Ted) Bowen, 82, of Malad, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello.
He was born on February 19, 1917 in Mapleton, Utah to James and Belva Amelia Bowen. He was raised and educated in Spanish Fork, Utah, and Holbrook, Idaho.
He married Violet Cooper of Wellsville, Utah on September 27, 1940 in Spanish Fork, Utah.
He was employed by Mountain Fuel Supply in Salt Lake City until inducted into the Army in 1943, where he served in the Medical Corps. When Ted completed his duty with the military he purchased the family farm in Holbrook, Idaho which he operated until his retirement in 1986.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but his greatest enjoyment was farming. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post. No. 65, and also a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He will also be remembered as a great friend to many who needed a helping hand.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Violet. He is survived by his son, John (Peggy) Bowen of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Claudia (Dean) Hughes of Providence, Utah; one grandson, Laine ( Jenni) Hughes of Brookings, Oregon; four granddaughters, Melissa (Tim) Johnson and Natalie (Joe) Cunliffe, Colorado Springs, Colorado; April (Dan) Dingleberger, Kansas City, Kansas; Deanna (Abel) Salazar, Helper, Utah; and three great grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, Daniel Riggs, Michelle Riggs and Wendy Hinckley, all of Salt Lake City.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 5, in Malad. Burial was in the Holbrook, Idaho, Cemetery with military rites.
