Daniel Keith Edwards

Daniel Keith Edwards, 78, or Morgan, UT, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2012. Dan was born on January 23, 1934 to Warren and Kate Edwards in Malad, Idaho.

He graduated from Malad High School in 1952 with a scholarship and a state title in football. His plans to pursue athletics at the University of Idaho were changed after he decided the family farm needed him more.

Always the sports fan, Dan loved to golf and referee boys’ basketball and baseball games. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz.

Dan was a hard working man with great integrity. His work ethic was unmatched. Throughout his career he worked for Conoco Phillips, Scholle, and proudly ended his career working for United Airlines. Even in retirement Dan stayed busier than ever with maintaining the River Cove condominiums, spending time with family, and reading meters for the City of Morgan with his wife, Coleen.

Dan and Coleen met after each had been trying for years to return to the Salt Lake City area while working with United Airlines. Separate and timely transfers allowed them to meet and many in 1999.

After visiting family in the area, three years later fate led them to find a condominium in Morgan, UT, that they fell in love with. Dan loved partnering with Coleen to keep a beautiful yard and garden. They loved to hike, golf, camp, visit with family and spend as many evenings as they could sitting alongside the banks of the river.

Dan is survived by his wife, Coleen; four children from his first marriage: Susan (Richard) McDonald of Salt Lake City, UT; Pam (Greg) Cozzi of Palatine, IL; Dana (David) Stecker of Schaumburg, IL; and David (Karen) Edwards of Gilbert, AZ; and Coleen’s children: Tambi (Scott) Calvert of Sitka, AL; Travis (Lisa) James of Syracuse, UT; Thaine (Debbie) James of Layton, UT; and Tishia (Alan) Bune of Syracuse, UT; 30 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. Dan is also survived by three brothers, Ren, David, Cleon and three sisters, Kathleen, Donna Gayle and Carol Anna.

With a contagious smile that would light up any room, Dan was well liked by all. Most importantly, he was always happy and upbeat with a positive attitude that had a powerful impact on anyone he met. He will never be forgotten as a loving, hard working, father, friend and companion.
