Funeral Services For Daniel Hughes
Memorial services for Daniel Hughes, 72, who died in a Downey hospital Saturday of a coronary occlusion, were held Tuesday at the Malad Third ward LDS Chapel.
Bishop Hubert Gleed officiated.
Josiah Price offered the family prayer. At the chapel, Charlotte Evans played the prelude and postlude music. Prayers were offered by Royal B. Jensen and Angus Stocking. Speakers were D. LeRoy Thomas and James B. Jones. Sally Connel, Leora Brown and Jerkin Jones sang solos.
Raiford Benson dedicated the grave.
Members of the Third Ward Relief Society carried the flowers. Casket bearers were Bill Chapman, Waldo Jensen, Bryan Redfield, Dan Hughes, Dale Vaughan and Wilford Parry.
Interment was directed by the Benson Funeral Home at the Samaria Cemetery.
Mr. Hughes was born January 18, 1886 at Samaria, a son of Daniel and Sarah Richards Hughes and moved with his family to Malad when he was a child. A member of the LDS Church, he was an elder in the Third Ward. He was a graduate of the School of Mechanics in Missouri.
He is survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
