A daughter of Otto and Magdalene Lauritzen, she was born November 7, 1910 in Michigan and moved to California while a child. She attended business college at Portland, Oregon and was married to Jonah Evans, Jr. on November 17, 1943 at Las Vegas, NV.

Surviving are her husband; one son, Melvin D., Rosemead, CA; her mother, Oakland, CA; four brothers and three sisters.
