Cleon J. Hone

Boise….Cleon J. Hone, 76, Delray Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday May 22, 2012. He was the fifth child born to Holley Eugene and Fanny Earley Hone on April 7, 1936. He lived an ideal childhood, growing up in Preston, ID. Cleon was known for his fun loving character and was always ready for an adventure. After graduating from Preston High School in 1954, he served his country for 2 years during the Korean War. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorene K Price, on September 14, 1956 and they moved to Pocatello where Cleon started his long and fruitful career with Idaho Power Co. In those earlier days, working at Idaho Power was like having a second family. They enjoyed boating, waterskiing, bowling and softball leagues. Cleon had many friends and was loved by everyone. He especially enjoyed teaching others to waterski.
Cleon had strong ties on both sides of the family. He was often the life of the party. Summers were spent boating, waterskiing, camping, and at family reunions. Holidays always meant traveling to Preston, Downey, Malad or California. In 1974 he moved his family to Boise to become an auditor and then a purchaser with Idaho Power. He later ran the BOC. They had many wonderful years raising their family and enjoying family, friends and neighbors in Boise. Years later his wife Dorene became ill with heart problems and his character truly shown. Cleon was a devoted husband and caretaker to her for many years. They loved to travel with many of those travels spent in their motorhome, and they particularly loved Hawaii. Dorene passed away January 10, 1996. After retiring from Idaho Power he co-founded a company, ISE, in Boise ID. He also worked for Anderson & Wood Construction. He was heavily involved in several charities and nonprofit organizations particularly the ARC and Idaho Central Credit Union. He later met and married Lee Jane Crawford in 1997 and they eventually moved to Delray Beach, Florida where they enjoyed the warm weather, golfing and the beach. Even though his illness kept him from doing what he wanted, he never complained and only cared about the burdens he was placing on others. He was truly a kind, gentle, giving person. He will be greatly missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorene Kay Price Hone, his parents, his siblings Doris (Dale) Leatham, William (Marge) Hone, Jerry Hone and several nieces and nephews.
