Cleo Davis Schwartz Tew

MALAD – Cleo Davis Schwartz Tew, 70, died Thursday, Aug 12, (1993) at her home in St. John.

She was born Jan 31, 1923, in Malad, a daughter of Hyrum Roy and Ruth Genevieve Castleton Davis. She grew up and was educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School class of 1943.

She married Ivan William Schwartz Oct 16, 1941, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He died Dec 20, 1980. She married Arthur George Tew Aug 3, 1983 in Ogden, Utah.

She had resided in the Malad Valley her entire life, and since l955, had lived in St. John. She was an active member of the LDS Church, where she had served in various callings. She had served in the War Mothers’ presidency, was a member of Daughters of the Idaho Pioneers and the Native Daughters.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Tew of St. John, 3 sons and wives, DeLon and Lorelei Schwartz, Malad; Ivan (Bill) William and Linda, Malad; Kevin and Kathy Schwartz, Casper, Wyo.; 4 daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Carolyn) Barnes, St. John; Mrs. Terry (JaNae) Wood, Casper, Wyo.; Mrs. Mike (Ann) Isaacson and Ruth Jean Schwartz, both of Malad; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; l brother, Arthur (Bud) Davis, Boise; 2 sisters, Mrs. Don (Gloria Jean) Jackson, Lake Stevens, Wash., and Mrs. Stan (Ruby) Jones, Pocatello. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ivan Schwartz, and 2 brothers.

Funeral services will be held Monday Aug 16, at 12 noon in the St. John LDS Ward chapel, Bishop Rex Daniels officiating.

Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 No., Malad, today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
