Clarence Devon Wilson


Clarence Devon Wilson, 84, of Downey Idaho passed away on Thursday November 10, 2016 at his home from battling Cancer. He was born May 3, 1932 to Christopher Ruben & Luella (Durfee) Wilson in Vernal, Utah. He was raised in Uintah, Utah where he learned to work hard on the farm. He moved to Toponce, Idaho near Chesterfield in May of 1949 to help his sister Lenna take care of her farm.She was recently widowed and had six children. He finished his Senior High School year in Bancroft, Idaho. A short time later he moved to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho where he met his dear life long sweetheart, MarJean Ware. They were married on September 24, 1954 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 – 1958. Following his service they returned to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. He was employed by Dale Koester Farms, Lava Lumber yard and then the local Snowmobile Shop. He also owned and operated a Gas Station for a short time. They later moved and settled in Downey, Idaho where he worked for Koester Farms for over 20 years. Following that, he went back into business for himself and purchased a Custom Fertilizing Truck and worked throughout the southeastern Idaho area, eventually moving up into the Billings, Montana region. MarJean’s health declined to the point that they moved back to Downey, Idaho. He was then employed as a long haul truck driver. Later he needed to stay closer to home so he took on the responsibility of maintaining the Downey and surrounding area cemeteries. He took great pride in the care and beauty of maintaining the cemeteries.

He is survived by 7 of his children Daniel (Robin) Wilson of Downey, Idaho; Wayne (ShaRon) Wilson of Preston, Idaho; Ladene (Kelly) Fly of Downey, Idaho; Brent (DeAnn) Wilson of Preston, Idaho; Brian (Kelly) Wilson of St. Louis, Missouri; Bruce (Audrey) Wilson of Logan, Utah; and Lisa (Kevin) Pratt of Monroe, North Carolina. 27 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and a brother, Jesse Wilson of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, sweetheart wife; MarJean and a son; Kenneth Lynn “Woody” Wilson.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday Nov. 15, 2016 at 11:00 am in the LDS Downey Second Ward Chapel, Downey, ID. There will be a viewing Monday evening Nov 14 from 6-8 pm and Tuesday morning from 9:30 – 10:45 am at the Church. Interment will be in the Cambridge Cemetery, Downey.
