Cherie Kay Newbold Morse

Cherie Kay Newbold Morse, 77, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018.  Kay was born the 20th day of January 1941 in Downey Idaho . She was the ninth child of Herald M Newbold Sr and Louise Wakley Bloxham.

Kay attended school in Downey and her freshman year at Marsh Valley High School.

When Kay was younger she would go to the temple grounds in Salt Lake City with her Grandpa Beeks. He was the secretary to President David O. McKay. She got to meet and visit with President David O. McKay.

Kay met Ted on the 20th of August 1955 and married him on the 22nd of May 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on May 4, 1964. To this union they added eight children: James, Rulon, Robyn, Denise, Teddie Jean, Evan, Kelly Deon and JaLyn. Teddie Jean was born the 20th of December 1960 and passed away the 29th of March 1961.

The family moved to Seattle in January of 1966 when Ted got a job with Boeing. Later Ted was hired as the city cop so they moved back to Downey in June of 1969.

In 1973 Kay went to work at Flags West. She was a cook and later the housekeeper. She retired from Flags West and enjoyed staying at home with first her dog Babe and then her cat Snooby.

Kay was a fantastic Primary teacher and scout leader, all those she taught loved her and knew she loved them. She worked as the ward librarian and showered her loved to the entire ward. Kay also served for many years doing compassionate service for the Ward. Kay loved attending the temple and doing her visiting teaching.

She is survived by her children: James (Vicky) Morse, Rulon Morse, Robyn (Daniel) Wilson, Denise (Mike) Gardner, Evan (Ginger) Morse, Kelly Deon (Kent) Page, JaLyn (Edward) Lee and her step children, Teddy (Sherry) Morse, Cathy Alderman and Cheryl Morse, her sisters Cleo, LaVor Christofferson and Bardee (Jay) Tolman, 17 grand children and 35 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Herald (Wilma) Newbold Jr, Henry Newbold, Richard (Dick) (DeLores) Newbold, Paul (Loretta) Newbold, Boyd Newbold, and Doyle (Tonyja) Newbold.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd from 10am to 11:45 am and the Funeral services for Kay will be held at noon in the Downey Ward Building. Graveside service and Interment will be held in the Downey City Cemetery following the services.
