Catherine (Katie) Hill Evans

Catherine (Katie) Hill Evans, 88, died December 25, 1982 in the Oneida County Nursing Home in Malad, ID.

She was born in St. John on January 18, 1894 to Matthew and Catherine Nelson Hill. She was raised and received her education there. She graduated from the New Jersey Academy in Logan, UT where she majored in education. She attended Idaho State College also, and taught school in St. John. Later she substituted as a teacher in Malad.

On November 1, 1916 she married John A. (Big Jack) Evans in Salt lake City, UT. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Malad and a member of the United Presbyterian Women, the War Mothers, the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include her husband, malad; two sons, John Earl Evans, Richland, WA; and Ray Evans, Garland, UT; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Catherine) Limb, Garland, UT; Mrs. Gail (Margaret) Boam, Downey; and Mrs. Peter Thomas (Rayma) Zaragilla, Silver Spring, MD; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and a son, Lyle.
